PROJECT
The exceptionally beautiful Podernuovo srl Società Agricola vineyard lies around 100 km southeast of Siena, surrounded by undulating landscape filled with old olive trees and grapevines stretching as far as the eye can see. The vineyard produces three different high-quality red wines. It was built in 2012 by Paulo and Giovanni Bulgari and is still run by the latter.
The 4,500 square meter building contains production, administration and wine tasting facilities, and has been built in a modern minimalist style, where exquisite natural materials and their interplay with the landscape play a key role. The building has a rectangular footprint, embedded in a south facing slope. The top floor therefore has views in all directions while the two lower floors open only to the south.

LAYOUT & FURNISHING
Podernuovo srl Società Agricola is made from concrete elements with a light sand coloring, which harmonize with the green and golden hues in the surrounding vegetation. The building is designed with longitudinal bearing walls which frame large rectangular rooms. The 86 square meter winetasting room offers a view through a glass wall to the floor below, containing the large hall housing oak wine barrels.
The winetasting room has simple and stringent furnishings, leaving a 100% focus on the essence of the site – the wine. The floor is covered with rustic tiles handmade from light brown hardfired clay, which continue onto the terrace on the other side of the glass wall. The 160 x 700 cm long table, designed by the architects, is made of wax treated oak set on a bronzed iron frame. Ceiling downlights positioned only above the table are lit in the evening, giving it even more focus and attention. The 30 Wishbone Chairs placed around the table are the only seats in the room. With their beautiful organic shape, genuine materials and legendary comfort, the chairs serve as the decorative and functional element in the room.
